My Bookkeeping Workflows
1. For Clients using Xero: I'll request access to their accounting software as a user representing an accounting firm. Once
granted access, I'll conduct a brief audit to ensure all transactions are correctly categorized in the corresponding chart of
accounts and verify the connection of bank accounts within Xero.
2. Then, I'll proceed with recording financial transactions, including sales, purchases, receipts, and payments, into the appropriate
ledger.
3. Following this, the next step involves reconciling bank and credit card accounts to ensure alignment between the financial
records in Xero and those in the bank and credit card statements. During this process, any discrepancies such as erroneous,
missing, or duplicate transactions will be identified and rectified and the GST will be double-checked to ensure it has been
correctly applied. Once reconciliation is complete, adjustments will be made in Xero as necessary.
4. Additionally, I will oversee the management of accounts receivable and accounts payable, which includes issuing invoices to
customers, tracking payments, following up on overdue invoices, and managing vendor payments. Once all transactions are
accurately reconciled, I will communicate the results to the client. Reconciliation is crucial for ensuring financial accuracy,
detecting errors and fraud, making informed decisions, remaining compliant and audit-ready, fostering trust with stakeholders,
and identifying potential cash flow issues. Regular checks of the balance sheet and comparison of balances with bank or credit
card statements will also be conducted. Reconciliation of other accounts, such as Accounts Receivable, and Accounts Payable,
will be carried out as well.

5. Moving forward, monthly reports will be generated for submission to the client. Throughout this process, any queries or
clarifications required will be addressed either through a Google spreadsheet, email correspondence, or via Zoom meetings with the
client. If there are any comments or corrections, transactions will be re-recorded or discrepancies rectified accordingly.
6. As part of the monthly procedures, financial reports will be prepared to provide insights into the company's financial performance
and position.
These reports typically include:
- Balance Sheet
- Profit and Loss Statement
- Profit and Loss Statement by Month
- Cash Flow Statement
- General Ledger (detailing account transactions)
7. At year-end, as a bookkeeper, it is necessary to collaborate with other professionals such as accountants and auditors to ensure
compliance with tax regulations and accounting standards.
